Xi’an Hongxin Sales Manager Accompanies UAE Client on Site Visit to Xinjiang Qiya’s 33,000kVA Industrial Silicon Project
*October 12, 2025 – The Sales Manager of Xi’an Hongxin Arc Furnace Co., Ltd. recently accompanied a delegation from a major UAE-based client on an in-depth site visit to the 33,000kVA industrial silicon submerged arc furnace (SAF) project of Xinjiang Qiya Silicon Metal Co., Ltd., located in the Wucaiwan Industrial Park of the Zhundong Economic and Technological Development Zone in Changji Prefecture, Xinjiang. The visit aimed to demonstrate the operational capabilities and technical sophistication of Xi’an Hongxin’s large-scale industrial silicon furnace solutions, further solidifying the company’s position as a trusted partner for Middle Eastern clients.*
Xinjiang Qiya’s industrial silicon project stands as one of China’s landmark initiatives in the silicon metal sector. According to public information, the overall plan for the 400,000-ton-per-year metal silicon project involves the construction of 32 units of 33,000kVA high-purity silicon SAFs, with an estimated total investment of RMB 5.45 billion. The first phase of the 200,000-ton-per-year project, currently under construction, includes 16 units of 33,000kVA furnaces and supporting auxiliary facilities, representing a total investment of RMB 2.51 billion. The phase one 100,000-ton construction project, which comprises four 33,000kVA high-purity silicon SAF workshops, broke ground in March 2023. The project is also equipped with advanced environmental protection systems, including negative pressure baghouse dust removal, dry desulfurization, and SCR denitrification systems, aligning with China’s “dual carbon” goals.
During the site visit, the delegation from the UAE had the opportunity to observe the full-scale operation of the 33,000kVA SAFs, including the electrode system, short network configuration, water-cooled components, and automated feeding system. The client expressed strong interest in Xi’an Hongxin’s advanced submerged arc furnace technology and its successful track record in large-scale projects. “The scale and sophistication of the Qiya project are truly impressive. Seeing Xi’an Hongxin’s equipment in operation at this level gives us great confidence in their engineering capabilities,” commented a representative of the UAE client. The client also noted that the Qiya facility serves as an ideal reference for the type of large-scale industrial silicon production they aim to develop.
The Xinjiang Qiya project is part of a broader strategic initiative to establish a vertically integrated silicon-based industrial chain. The Qiya Group has been actively expanding its silicon operations, including a 200,000-ton-per-year high-purity polysilicon project with a total investment of RMB 32 billion, located in the same industrial park. This integrated approach, spanning from quartz mining to metal silicon and high-purity polysilicon production, has positioned Qiya as a major player in China’s silicon industry. The UAE client was particularly interested in this integrated model, which aligns with the growing demand for sustainable and efficient silicon production in the Middle East.
The successful site visit underscores Xi’an Hongxin’s strategic focus on the Middle East market. As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of submerged arc furnaces and ferroalloy production equipment, Xi’an Hongxin continues to leverage landmark projects such as its recent contract for Oman’s largest industrial silicon EPC project as a springboard for further expansion across the region. The company is committed to providing full-lifecycle support, including project consulting, engineering design, equipment manufacturing, installation and commissioning, and long-term operational maintenance.
“We are delighted to showcase the performance of our large-scale industrial silicon furnaces to our UAE partners,” said the Sales Manager of Xi’an Hongxin. “The Xinjiang Qiya project demonstrates our capability to deliver reliable, efficient, and environmentally responsible solutions for high-purity silicon production. We look forward to deepening our collaboration with clients across the Middle East and contributing to the sustainable development of the region’s metallurgical industry.”
Following the site inspection, Xi’an Hongxin and the UAE client held preliminary discussions on potential cooperation opportunities, including the supply of complete furnace lines and long-term spare parts support. Further technical exchanges and commercial negotiations are expected to take place in the coming months.
