Case Details

Xinjiang Qiya Metallic Silicon Project – EPC Turnkey (4 × 33,000 kVA Furnaces)

I. Product: Industrial Silicon (metallurgical-grade silicon)

II. Capacity: 33,000 kVA per furnace

III. Furnace Type: Semi-closed submerged arc furnace

IV. Quantity: 4 furnaces

V. Construction Time: 2023

VI. Project Location: Wucaiwan Town, Jimsar County, Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang, China

VII. Project Details:

In 2023, Hongxin signed an EPC turnkey contract with Xinjiang Qiya Metallic Silicon Industry Co., Ltd. for the supply and construction of four 33,000 kVA semi-closed submerged arc furnaces for industrial silicon production. The project is located in Wucaiwan Town, Jimsar County, within the Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang – a region known for its concentrated metallurgical and industrial silicon manufacturing base.

Scope of Supply (Full EPC Turnkey):
Hongxin’s scope covered the complete set of submerged arc furnace main equipment and facilities, as well as all supporting tapping and casting system equipment and facilities. Specifically, this included all main and auxiliary equipment, electrical control systems, and automation components within the entire metallic silicon furnace system – starting from the top silo (raw material feeding), through the furnace main body, to the front tapping system, and finally to the ingot mold casting system. In essence, Hongxin delivered a fully integrated production line for industrial silicon, excluding only civil works and grid connection infrastructure.

Construction Execution:
The construction phase proceeded according to schedule, with Hongxin demonstrating professional project management and disciplined on-site practices. Notably, due to Hongxin’s proper construction management, rigorous safety protocols, and civilized construction methods (including orderly material staging, dust control, and minimal disruption to surrounding areas), the client issued multiple commendations and rewards to Hongxin’s team during the construction period. These recognitions reflect the high standard of workmanship and collaborative approach that Hongxin brings to every project.

Current Status:
As of now, the four furnaces have been fully constructed, mechanically completed, and are ready for commissioning. However, due to client-specific reasons (unrelated to Hongxin’s equipment quality or installation), the furnaces have not yet been energized and started up. The client is awaiting the right conditions – likely related to power supply arrangements, raw material readiness, or overall plant infrastructure – before powering on. Once those conditions mature, the furnaces can be started with minimal additional preparation.

Future Outlook:
Hongxin remains in communication with the client and stands ready to provide start‑up assistance and operational guidance when the plant is ready to go live. The equipment is built to the same proven design as Hongxin’s other successful 33,000 kVA semi‑closed furnaces (e.g., those operating at >55 tons/day in other Xinjiang projects). Once operational, the four furnaces are expected to deliver stable performance and meet design targets. This project further solidifies Hongxin’s reputation for high‑quality EPC delivery and professional site conduct in the Xinjiang industrial silicon sector.
