At the end of 2021, Hongxin signed a contract with the client for an EPC turnkey project covering the main furnace equipment of their second-phase construction. The scope included the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of four 33,000 kVA semi-closed submerged arc furnaces for industrial silicon production. This phase followed the successful completion of our first-phase work (four furnaces delivered in 2017), where Hongxin had already demonstrated industry-leading execution speed and operational reliability.
Despite the challenges posed by winter site conditions and a compressed schedule, Hongxin’s project team leveraged its accumulated experience from the first phase and optimized the construction workflow. Remarkably, all four furnaces were fully delivered by July 2022 – within approximately seven months from contract signing. This delivery timeline once again placed Hongxin among the fastest contractors on the client’s extensive multi-furnace construction site.
Since commissioning, the four furnaces have exhibited stable and robust operation. More importantly, their production indicators have consistently exceeded those achieved during Phase I. Key performance metrics – including power consumption per ton, thermal efficiency, recovery rate, and product consistency – have all surpassed the design specifications and the client’s expectations. Each furnace continuously achieves an average daily output of over 55 metric tons of industrial silicon, a figure that stands well above typical industry benchmarks for 33,000 kVA semi-closed furnaces.
The owner has expressed great satisfaction with Hongxin’s performance in Phase II. The combination of rapid delivery, smooth commissioning, and superior operational results has further strengthened the trust between both parties. The client particularly appreciates that the Phase II furnaces not only maintained the reliability of the first-phase equipment but also delivered measurable improvements in productivity and efficiency.
This project serves as another flagship reference for Hongxin in the industrial silicon sector. It demonstrates our ability to execute repeat EPC turnkey contracts with consistent quality, faster delivery, and continuously improving outcomes. The success of these four furnaces has solidified Hongxin’s reputation as a preferred partner for large-scale industrial silicon furnace construction in Xinjiang and beyond.
